The classic Guinness Surfer

If all ads were this good, people would turn on the tv just to watch the ads. So let’s all aim for this whenever we get the chance to direct a spot.

Gorgeous opening titles

juno opening title

OMG, not another movie post! All too often the opening title is so much cooler then the rest of the movie. Sometimes it’s a prelude explaning how zombies took over the world. And sometimes it gets you in the perfect mood for some sexy vampire action.

Art of the title is a blog dedicated to this stuff. It easily earns its place in my RSS reader.

Asian movie posters

sympathy for lady vengeance

I love asian movies, especially korean. They make even action and horror movies beautiful in a way that few western movies do. Just watch A Tale of Two Sisters by Ji-woon Kim and you’ll see what I mean.

Smashing Magazine has a nice collection of stunning posters. Go take a look, and watch the movies too!

poladroid polaroid images

Want to give your photos a retro makeover? Poladroid takes your (highres) images and makes printable polaroids of them. And it really manages to do it with a style! Try the application (Mac only) and you’ll see what I mean. Or go and take a look in the flickr-pool.

Magenta is not pink, stupid

comparison pink and magenta

Pink is for little girls, I would never use such a stupid colour. But magenta is something completely different, and one of my favourites!

Actually, no matter what you choose to call it, pink is a really versatile colour. It is warm like red, fresh like lime and generally easier to read than yellow. It’s been slightly overused lately, during the web 2.0 peak, but not as much as lime or cyan. I’m currently using it for my links, to pimp my otherwise minimalistic design.

Read som more interesting observations on pink/magenta on the blog 15all

Some linguistics: Pink is called rosa in swedish, italian, spanish and german and the french calls it rose. The finns choose to call it vaaleanpunainen.

Labour isn’t working

18
Nov

Whatever you think about Thatcher, this ad is simply brilliant.

labour isnt working ad, saatchi & saatchi

Not only has it won awards for best ad of the century, it also firmly positioned Saatchi & Saatchi as the conservative ad agency. But maybe that will change as they are now working for Brown.
